Version 4 internet protocol addresses (IPv4 addresses) are a hot online commodity and are no longer being distributed to network providers. While there were originally about four billion IPv4 addresses available for distribution, the growth of networks around the world has now exhausted the entirety these addresses, with the exception of addresses held by network upstream providers.
While most NextGen websites use a shared IP address, sites which require a dedicated IP address will be required to provide justification as to why they need a dedicated IP address because of the shortage of available IPv4 addresses. While we approve most requests for new IP Addresses with no issue, a small verification process is required to ensure all addresses distributed to clients are given out for legitimate and appropriate uses.
