Although NextGen strongly encourages the use of a web-based tool such as PHPMyAdmin in your cPanel to manage the databases on your site, it's still possible to manage your databases remotely.

To do so, you will have to add your computer's or network's current IP address to the Manage Remote MySQL Access page in your cPanel. To find out what your current IP Address is, visit a website such as whatismyip.com and enter the IP address the site gives you into cPanel. After performing that step, you should be able to connect to your account's MySQL databases remotely through port 3306 (the default MySQL port).

Not entering your address before attempting to connect will result in access denied errors when trying to connect to MySQL remotely. Additionally, trying to connect several times to the MySQL port on your site without entering your IP address on the proper page in your cPanel will result in its permanent blocking by the server firewall.
